The Nakuru Area Church Council originally comprised of Nakuru and Nyandarua, which was under the late Bishop David Ng’anga and his Assistant, Rev. John Maina Kingori. The Nakuru Region’s request to be made an Area purely by its own was granted by the Central Church Council, the Presiding Bishop Dr. Silas Yego and his Deputy Presiding Bishop Geoffrey Gichure held a meeting with all the leaders at A.I.C Gilgil and Rev. John Maina Kingori was elected as the Nakuru Area Bishop while Rev. Andrew K. Mutai was elected as the Assistant Bishop respectively.

The Nakuru Area Church Council was duly inaugurated on 7th June 2016 with 8 Regional Church Councils namely:
